Here are this week’s not-to-miss food events where you can meet folks indulging in their favorite eats, just as much as you do. 

1. Monday, Dec 8th @ 730PM | The National Arts Club | 15 Gramercy Park South

Whiskey Women, with Fred Minnick

Join Fred Minnick, author of Whiskey Women: The Untold Story of How Women Saved Bourbon, Scotch and Irish Whiskey, tells us how the spirits were developed by women, who also invented beer and distillation and owned major brands including Bushmills, Laphroaig and Makers Mark. Fred Minnick will describe the little-known history of the females who transformed the whiskey industry, from Mesopotamia’s first beer brewers and distillers, to rowdy American bootleggers during Prohibition, to today’s multi-billion dollar business. A reception before the talk will feature three whiskey women, all New York distillers pouring tastes of their locally made spirits.

Eating Delancey: A Celebration of Jewish Food

The new book, Eating Delancey, captures the significance of Jewish food in beautiful photographs, recipes, and heartwarming reminisces. Come hear the stories of knishes, kasha, herring, Russ & Daughters, Sammy’s Roumanian, and Katz’s with authors Aaron Rezny and Jordan Schaps. They will be joined by Russ & Daughters’ Niki Russ Federman, as well as book contributors award-winning writers Cara De Silva and Bob Morris, and documentary filmmaker Erik Anjou. 

4. Wednesday, Dec 11th @ 7PM | Baked Tribeca | 279 Church St

It’s a party. It’s a book-signing. It’s a full on dessert shin-dig. Eat, Drink, and be Sweet (and Merry) for a good cause. Featuring Dorie Greenspan of Baking Chez Moi, Agatha Kulaga and Erin Patinkin of Ovenly, Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna ofAmple Hills, Allison Kave of Butter and Scotch, Patti Paige of Baked Ideas, Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito of Baked. All of the featured authors will be signing their latest book and slinging an array of sweets. Bites, beer/wine, and coffee included.
